Nothing bad happened today, so that alone makes today great! No pulled trachs, IVs, or PEG tubes. (Of course, two of the three are secured such that he can't pull them out again. A trach is impossible to secure.)

Josh got the nine staples out of his forehead. They will remove the 50 staples from the craniectomy before his MRI, which will be some time after 5:00 pm. Because he has an MRI, he can't go down a trach size. They hope to do that later tonight or tomorrow. We should know more about his brain functionality after we see the results of the MRI.

PT came and helped Josh stand up ... twice. OT came and fed him ice chips and a grape smoothie. His swallowing was worse today, so no ice cream. (We can't give him much food until he is swallowing properly or there is a chance it will leak into his lungs.) PT said that he should be able to eat more once they swap out his trach for a smaller size.

We took him outside in his wheelchair today so that he could get some fresh air. He seemed to enjoy that, although it is hard to know for sure.

He still likes to play with and throw balls. He was able to throw his small, toy basketball into a basket many times today, which was encouraging.

We gave him a phone with one of his favorite games on it and he actually tried to play. He couldn't play very well but he did seem to understand the concept and try to jump the obstacles. This was also encouraging.
