The big news for Josh today is that they were able to remove his trach tube. They also took out his last IV. So he no longer has any wires or tubes that tether him. He does still have his feeding tube, but that isn't tethered to anything and should be able to be removed soon as his ability to swallow improves. He was able to eat some chocolate pudding and drink some apple juice today.

He did more writing today. He wrote "stick!" (complete with an exclamation mark) and "every time" over and over. Not sure why.

He did get his first real shower in three weeks. I think we all appreciated that as much as Josh.

He didn't do much talking today. Only a couple of words. And after walking around the hallways he was so tired he collapsed into bed.

The doctors feel that they will be able to discharge Josh soon so we've been looking for a good in-patient rehab facility for him. After a lot of research and thought, we have decided to transport Josh to Denver and put him in Craig Hospital. Craig is consistently ranked among the very top rehab centers in the US for brain injuries. They actually flew a representative to Portland to meet with us. Well, the tactic worked! Assuming Josh is cleared for a medical transport, we'll be heading to Denver next Tuesday for about eight weeks!
