Josh continued to make progress today. His swallowing was better and he got to eat some ravioli (a bite) and drink a milkshake. He enjoyed coloring and writing. Today he wrote his name as Joshua James James, over and over. He's getting a little better about using the bathroom. He continues to amaze with Flow, which he played for a good hour and blew through many levels. Overall he was a little more interactive and enjoyed time with his visitors.
We encountered a problem today getting Josh transferred to Craig Hospital in Denver. His Portland neurologist does not want to clear Josh for a flight until his skull is replaced, which is still a couple of weeks out. This is apparently due to altitude change and air pressure. But the neurologists in Denver are puzzled by this reluctance and assure us this is done all the time without any problem. Even some of the other doctors in Portland have expressed surprise at this reluctance. His Portland neurologist has agreed to reevaluate Josh on this issue tomorrow. We remain optimistic about getting Josh to Denver next Tuesday.
For those following our friend Erin, her family made the difficult decision today to "pull the plug." They are now waiting for the inevitable, which could take a few days. Our hearts break for them. Continued prayers for them as they say goodbye to their 26-year old daughter, sister, niece, and friend would be greatly appreciated.

I'm so sorry about Erin. That could very easily have been our family. Heartfelt condolences.
