We arrived in Colorado one month ago today, but it feels like we've been here forever.
Josh's first class of the day was OT. Using a card game called "Blink," he had to match either shapes or colors. So if the top card was a yellow triangle, the next card had to be yellow or a triangle. It was really hard for him, and he messed up a lot. When that was over, she put a row of beads on the table and asked him to string beads in the same pattern. It took him awhile, but he did a good job.
In neuropshych, Josh was asked to do puzzles. Here he is trying to complete the task:
PT was at 11:00. Josh worked on balance and stairs.
In ST, the therapist asked what year it is. Josh's answer was, "sock." She asked what month it is. Josh's answer was "blue." She asked what day of the week it is. Josh's answer is, "I don't know."
Since the accident Josh has a very serious fear of falling. He panics when he has to sit ... in a chair, on the toilet. He was never afraid of falling before, so it makes Mary consider how terrible it must have been for him to fall 50 feet.
We finally got our freedom to roam the campus without a chaperone, as long as Josh stays in the wheelchair. But if we leave campus or he gets out of the wheelchair, they will revoke our privileges. (rolling eyes emoticon)
The best news today is that Eden came! YAY!!! We couldn't be happier! Here is what Eden thinks of the facilities: "It's nice that it's new and it doesn't have a hospital smell. It's like a mix between a hospital and a hotel. There is a bistro that patients are allowed to wheel into, a botanical room, a swimming pool (for patients), and game rooms, which you don't get in a hospital. But the room looks like a hospital and nurses check in on you all night. It's cool that Josh is surrounded by a bunch of people who have stories like his, and that his nurse was a patient here 8 years ago (but it's also a little scary that his nurse was a patient here 8 years ago). And Josh is rocking the iPad games! Dad grabs his arm every 5 seconds; he should really start icing that more."
Josh throwing down the pen. I laughed out loud! Such a Josh reaction.
