When Paul got to Swedish this morning to see Josh, he was very surprised to see how well Josh was doing. He seemed to be slightly more alert and connected than ever before. We don't know if this is a glimpse into the future or not, but it was nice to see that Josh was recovering so well from yesterday's surgery.

After some breakfast, Josh fell asleep for a couple of hours. We had to wake him up when the transport people showed up to move him back to Craig. We were back at Craig in our usual room by noon, and Josh was still doing very well.

After resting in the apartment for a few hours this morning and catching up on some much-needed sleep, Mary joined the party at Craig at lunchtime. After lunch, Josh got back to his regular classes for an hour and then took a nap. Paul and Mary took the opportunity for a nap of their own. We are so exhausted after this long and difficult week.

After dinner, Mary and Josh played some Junior Monopoly (Josh's choice!). Josh won (though, probably in the same way he wins Foosball and air hockey all the time). Mary and Paul were both surprised at how well Josh understood what was going on in the game, including reading cards.

Towards the end of the game, we noticed that Josh seemed to be slowing down. After about 30 minutes we started to get a little concerned, as he seemed to disconnect. Given the fact that he had surgery just yesterday, we wanted to be safe, so we called the nurses and they checked Josh carefully. By this time, Josh could hardly keep his eyes open. But all of his vitals looked good, so we got him in bed, roused him just enough to take his usual medications, and then let him go to sleep early. We figure he was just exhausted after a long day and a surgery. They will watch him carefully overnight.

  1. Arise old soul and stop repining
Behind the cloud the Son is still shining.
Into each life some rain must fall.
Some days must be dark and dreary.

Yet, I rejoice when the clouds pop and close shop!
Hooray, hooray Taylor family! You are going to plant your flag on the top of this mountain yet!
