Dr. Makley wasn't here, so Mary met with Makley's PA (Jeremy) regarding Josh's medical needs. She told Jeremy about a few things that she would like to happen today - all things she has discussed with Makley over the past few weeks. But Jeremy actually did them! ALL of them!

First, Mary wanted a test done to determine whether Josh needs to have the Lovenox shots every morning. She suspected those could be discontinued. Jeremy ordered the ultrasound, which was done at 9:00am. No DVTs were found in Josh's extremities, so Josh had his last Lovenox shot this morning! (Not only is the shot unpleasant, but there is a painful burn that lasts for several minutes after the shot is given. No more!!)

Mary also wanted Josh's G-tube removed. It could have been removed WEEKS ago! She told Jeremy she wanted the G-tube out. Jeremy submitted the order asking that it be done ASAP. A couple of hours later, Gail (the GI nurse practitioner) came while Josh was eating lunch and she pulled it. Now Josh can sleep on his stomach if he wants!!

For three weeks Mary has been asking Makley to register Josh for a massage. (Craig offers 2 free massages, but now we won't have time to do more than one.) Jeremy got it scheduled, and Josh received his massage at 4:45 tonight. The worst part of the massage was that Josh was so relaxed that we had a hard time waking him up for dinner.

Josh did well in all his testing today. Our friend Jane Damiano came from Portland to visit, and she stayed with Josh so Mary could go to dinner with a friend (Andi). After dinner, Mary, Jane, and Andi socialized. (Having friends is GREAT! You can blame THEM for the late post. ;) ) Mary bought King Size Twix bars at the local Rite Aid for $1 each. Paul messed up his flight and scheduled it for 10 pm instead of 10 am, so we got to spend more time together today than we expected. And no more Posey bed for Josh; he got a regular double bed!!

All in all, it was pretty good day.

  1. So close! Nearly home. And $1 King sized Twix bars is an INCREDIBLE find. What a great day!
